Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1 UK – LIMA
Fly to Lima .On arrival Lima you will be welcomed and transferred to hotel Casa Andina Private collection .
DAY 2 LIMA (B/D)
After breakfast take half day excursion of Colonial and Modern Lima Tour. This excursion provides a perfect combination of pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern Lima, that will enable you to become acquainted with Lima’s complete history. This tour will take you to Huaca Pucllana, a magnificent ceremonial and administrative site, built in the 4th century AD, and considered by the Incas as aupallaqta, a ‘sacred village’. You will see the Historical Centre: Paseo de la Republica, San Martin Square, Government Palace. We also visit the Museum of the Banco Central de Reserva, a beautiful building hosting Peru’s treasures. The tour continues through modern Lima: El Olivar in San Isidro, Miraflores’ Central Park and Larco Mar.
DAY 3 LIMA (B/D)
We visit Sacred Citadel of Pachacamac .The tour will take you to this sacred and ceremonial centre where, in the early Christian era, pilgrims came to present their offerings and consult the Oracle of Pachacamac, who could see into the past and the future to predict destiny. You will visit the pyramids, temples and precincts built by pre-Colombian cultures including the Incas. The Temples of the Sun and of the Virgins of the Sun (Acllahuasi) are part of the archaeological park..
DAY 4 LIMA – AREQUIPA (B/D)
After breakfast we take a mid day flight to Arequipa .Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city, was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2000. It is also known as ‘The White City’ because many of its churches and colonial mansions are built from the white ashlar volcanic stone. On arrival check in at Casa Andina Private collection .
DAY 5 AREQUIPA – COLCA CANYON (B/D)
After breakfast we take a excursion to Colca Canyon . Drive through the spectacular scenery of the Aguada Blanca National reserve, under the shadows of Ampato Volcano, to your lodge located deep in the heart of the Colca Canyon.. On arrival Colca check in at hotel Las Casitas del Colca . Then we visit the area that presents beautiful typical towns, like Yanque & Maca, colonial churches, gently people with typical needlework dresses, hundreds of pre-inca terraces still in use with Andean growing like corn, quinua, kiwicha among others.
DAY 6 COLCA CA NYON – PUNO (B/D)
An early start to the edge of the canyon, one mile above the river, where it is possible to see condors rise on the thermals, and glide past, only metres away. This lookout is one of few places in the world that offers the chance to see these birds at such close quarters. Then we drive to Puno . On arrival check in at hotel Casa Andina Private collection.
DAY 7 PUNO (B/L/D)
Enjoy this amazing experience in the Lake Titicaca, including a visit to floating islands of the Uros and Taquile Island.The Islands of the Uros are located in the east of the city of Puno. These islands are made of ‘totora’ reeds, rising six metres above water level. They are anchored by logs and connected to each other by ropes. They still keep the ancient traditions and community living, with their activities being fishing and handicrafts. We continue to Taquile Island which has two characteristics:the spectacular views from its hills, and its standing as a first rate textile centre. The local people (Taquilenos) live on their textile activities. This is noticeable as the men, walking in their rubber sandals (‘ojotas’ in Quechua), still wear black trousers, white flannel shirts and beautiful, finely woven chumpis (belts), with their heads covered by finely knitted ‘chullos’ (caps with ear flaps). This is an ancient civilization that continues living the traditions and laws of the Incas.
DAY 8 PUNO (B/D)
Enjoy this half day tour to the Sillustani Towers, a magical place that will provide a profound energetic experience .This archaelogical area is located 34 km North of Puno city. We will visit the magical tombs called Chullpas, which are big burial monuments, built in tower forms by the Collas Indians. The Chullpas were built by the Aymara-speaking Collas, a tribe that dominated the Titicaca region before the Incas. Sillustani is located on a peninsula in the beautiful Umayo Lagoon and these constructions have a height of more than 12 meters each
DAY 9 PUNO – CUSCO (B/L/D)
Early morning we leave for Cusco . On the way we’ll visit the Stone Museum of Pukara (first big culture in the Andean area), then we’ll proceed to La Raya (4400m) the highest point between Puno and Cusco from where you can see snow-capped mountains. This will be followed by a break in Sicuani for lunch (buffet menu). Later we’ll visit Wiracocha’s Temple in Raqchi, a huge temple dedicated to a main Inca God. 40 minutes before arriving to Cusco we’ll visit Andahuaylillas Church, where we’ll see the indoctrination of the Andean people. Finally at 5:00pm we will be arriving in Cusco . Overnight stay at hotel Casa Andina private collection – Cusco
DAY 10 CUSCO – SACRED VALLEYB – CUSCO (B/D)
Enjoy this fantastic experience in the Sacred Valley, which undoubtedly was a key area for Inca settlements. We start this full day tour with a visit to the market at Pisac Town, where you can buy typical Peruvian handicrafts at the best prices. After lunch you will tour the remarkable Inca village and fortress of Ollantaytambo . A very steep stone staircase leads into the fortress. Across an esplanade there is a Temple with 10 niches, and beside it a block of partially unworked stones. Beyond another esplanade, stand six huge rectangular monoliths (weighing approximately 50 tons) from the Temple of the Sun. Vestiges of rooms are seen on top, and on the other side of the hill a four storey building can be seen, which was either a military school or a prison. During the afternoon we visit the town of Chinchero . This place lies on the foundations of animportant Inca site built in the late 1400s.
DAY 11 CUSCO (B/D)
After breakfast we visit the impressive sites of Maras, a complex of exploitation of salt and Moray, an important centre of Inca agricultural research on crops. Moray is a huge series of circular terraces worked into the ground, they are natural sinkholes on a limestone plateau overlooking the Urubamba valley and local people refer to them as the greenhouse of the Incas. We then continue to the nearby age-old terrace salt mines and ponds that sit below the colonial town of Maras, this is simply an outstanding sight.
DAY 12 CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (B/D)
Start the day by rising early and enjoying a scenic train tide to the Peruvian town of Aguas Calientes. Transfer to a bus for a brief journey to the much-visited archaeological site of Machu Picchu.Built at the height of the Inca Empire, it is widely believed that this place was built to serve as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacutec. Learn about the historical background of this impressive site from your guide while you spend the morning walking around the ruins. After the tour you will have free time to explore the complex at your own pace. By 4pm it’s time to make the return journey back to the bright lights of Cusco. Hop on the train and ride back to the city, away from the magnetic heritage of mighty Machu Picchu.
DAY 13 CUSCO (B/D)
After breakfast ,Kick off your historical Cusco tour with a visit to the San Pedro market, which at an altitude of 3,400m, is one of the highest in the world. Talk about starting the morning on top of the world! On this day tour you’ll visit key Incan highlights to experience Cusco at the grassroots level. Start at the vibrant San Pedro local market. Then head out of town to explore two major Inca sites, Sacsayhuaman and Q’enqo. Practice your language skills and bargain for snacks. Visit the amazing Sacsayhuaman & Q’enqo Enjoy breathtaking views over Cusco. Descend back to Cusco exploring charming Inca streets
DAY 14 CUSCO – LIMA – UK (B)
After breakfast the day is free for your own leisure and other activities. Then in the afternoon transfer to Cusco airport to board your flight to Lima and then connect flight to UK. Overnight flight
