The Taj Mahal

Explore the gardens and the incredible interiors - with marble floors laid out in a geometrical pattern of stars and cruciform shapes and a collection of semi-octagonal arched alcoves, and of course the main chamber which houses the (false) sarcophagi of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan - their actual graves are actually at a much lower level. Then head outside to view the elevated mausoleum from a perfect spot at the end of the iconic reflecting pool, which lends the mausoleum an otherworldly atmosphere when the sun dips just out of sight and covers the landscape in a flickering golden light - don’t miss any evening photo opportunities here - as the scene is incredible.
