Nature Reserves in Jordan

Nature Reserves in Jordan

There are only a handful of nature reserves in Jordan, but each of them are beautiful and many provide something a little bit different to the country’s mostly desert landscape. The Dana Biosphere Reserve is one its most impressive (as well as its largest reserve) and is filled with huge cliffs of limestone, granite and sandstone and inhabited by Ibex and Chukar, while the Ajloun Reserve is a lush forest reserve near Jerash that has an enticing Mediterranean-like environment characterised by evergreen oaks, pistachio trees and a thriving fauna made up mostly of jackals, foxes and hyenas.
