Russia’s huge capital city is home to a veritable army of attractions. Start at the cobbled Red Square to see the stunningly ornate St Basil’s Cathedral and the walls of the imposing Kremlin and afterwards consider a stroll and a spot of shopping in the sparkling hallways of the GUM shopping mall. Beat the crowds with a meander through the pretty Gorky Park and finish in the evening with a visit to the Bolshoi Theatre, followed up by a round of Russian vodkas in a late night bar. If you’re up for the challenge – descend down into Moscow’s underground system to see some of the world’s most impressive underground rail stations – complete with unique works of art and huge chandeliers.
