Uncover old capital architectural marvels Bhutan

Punakha the Old Capital

Punakha Dzong: This dzong is thought to be the most magnificent in Bhutan. It is located at the point where two rivers meet (the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu). Jacaranda trees with lilac flowers blossom around them in the spring.
The Punakha Suspension Bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan. It is covered in colourful prayer flags.
Chimi Lhakhang, or "The Fertility Temple," is a temple devoted to the "Divine Madman." You can get there by taking a short, beautiful stroll through rice fields. It is well-known for its unusual custom of blessing couples.
River Rafting: If you want to do something fun, take a mild rafting excursion down the Mo Chhu River. From the water, you can see the Dzong in a whole new way.
Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten: A 45-minute walk up the hill gives you one of the nicest views of the Punakha valley from above.
