Brunei has so many amazing things to see and do, from peaceful Islamic culture to stunning royal sites and ancient Bornean rainforests. The country’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is the cultural heart of the nation with architectural wonders of golden domes, royal museums and lively waterfronts on the Brunei River. Just outside the centre are historic riverside villages, large national parks and spectacular coastal reserves, all showing the natural beauty and rich traditions of this Bornean sultanate.
Ulu Temburong National Park is the country’s first national park, established to preserve more than 550 square kilometres (210 square miles) of prime tropical rainforest in the easternmost part of the country. It is a strictly protected conservation reserve, known as the “Green Jewel of Brunei”, where industrial logging is banned and human activity is limited to research and controlled ecotourism.
