Highlights of Cambodia
It would quite plainly be wrong to visit Cambodia and not see the incredible temples of Angkor Wat. To see the sunset behind these great stone temples, such as the Bayon Temple, is a magical moment - an attraction in of itself, but when you start to explore the ruins is when the real adventure begins. You’ll gasp in awe as you witness nature taking back the Temple of Ta Prohm - vast roots from the looming trees have framed the entrance and stretch deep through the surrounding land. The intricate Buddha Face Carvings at Bayon Temple will astound you - there are some 37 faces carved into the stone and they were said to be built at the request of King Jayavarman VII in 1181 - himself said to be a reincarnation of the Buddha of Compassion - making these huge intricate carvings something of a series of portraits - of not just Buddha but of the God-King who ordered their construction.
