A trip to the vibrant metropolis of Cairo can be intimidating at first but more than worth it. Visit the medieval sites in Old Cairo, the Egyptian Museum in the centre of the city (which is filled with ancient treasures), go shopping at the Khan al Khalili bazaar, and see the pyramids at Giza and Saqqara, which are both close by. Those wishing to see Cairo’s modern side should head to the Midan Tahir area of the inner city which is home to opulent hotels, landmarks such as the Egyptian Museum and pretty riverside parks
