Wildlife Watching in Antarctica 0">Wildlife watching in Antarctica is one of the most rewarding and unforgettable experiences. It draws nature loving people and photographers from all over the world who are waiting to capture the beauty of some of the planet’s extraordinary living things in their natural habitat. Surrounded by unspoiled scenery and freezing seas, the White Continent is home to a huge variety of life that evolved to survive in some of the most severe environments on the planet.
Penguins are one of the most iconic species on earth, attracting visitors with their nature and their large groups during the Antarctic summer days.
">You are sure to see Gentoo, Adélie and Chinstrap penguins floating across the snow, building nests, looking after chicks and diving into the ocean for food. Getting to see that extraordinary birds close up is one of the top highlights of any Antarctic adventure as well as many chances for wonderful photos. Another popular sight during natural animal safaris are seals, that include Weddell seals, Leopard seals, Crabeater seals and Southern African Elephant seals, so are often seen resting on ice crystals or swimming easily on the icy waters. Each species is its own unique characteristics and ways of acting that extend tourists a deeper understanding of the diversity of life that increases in the remote part of the world Watching the whales is as spectacular and one of the most memorable parts of the trip to Antarctica.

">The heat of summer generate nutrient-rich waters that attract a variety of whale species as well as Humpback whales, It whales and Orcas and supply extraordinary chances to see these extraordinary marine animals swimming, tail slapping and feeding. Catching a whale damage from the icy ocean, set on a backdrop of frozen glaciers and mountains of snow is an extraordinary memories that stays at travellers. There is also a wide variety of birdlife on both Antarctica and the surrounding islands, making the area a birdwatcher’s paradise. Various types of seabirds like Albatrosses, Petrels, Skuas and Cormorants can be watched flying above the ocean or nesting on rocky cliffs. 3">It can cope with the powerful winds and extreme temperatures of the Southern Ocean – a testament to the amazing strength of Antarctic wildlife. Most nature observation takes place on adventure trips in vessels specifically built for such trips and in Zodiac boats, who allow tourists to reach populations and feeding grounds at a respectful distance that preserves the animals and their environment. Expert expedition leaders and naturalists in charge of beach trips enable greater opportunities to spot nature in its original environment and gain knowledge the area's natural environments. The Antarctic travel tourism season runs from November to March so there are changing wildlife displays every day of the months.

">Early in the year, guests get to see penguin courtship and nesting, while December and January showcase fluffy penguin chicks and increased seabird activity. February and March are particularly attractive for whale lovers, as many species go more active and easier to spot in the surrounding waters. Peaceful travel is a must to maintain the weak environment of Antarctica, if strict rules take place to ensure experiences with wildlife are safe and sustainable. Tourists are asked to respect minimum distances, not to disturb animals and to follow directions from skilled guides that take conservation and environmental protection first. These actions work to keep Antarctica, one of the world’s greatest natural treasures, pristine.

">The excitement of spotting individual animals is only one aspect of wildlife watching in Antarctica. It is also a chance to see the relationship of life in a remote, and largely untouched, part of the world. The silence of the landscape, broken only by the sounds of seabirds and the calls of penguins, gives a sense of peace that adds to the overall satisfaction. Each encounter is unique, if it’s seeing a group of dolphins swimming in the sun, watching a whale surface next to a Zodiac boat and seeing a colony of penguins interacting with each other. It is a powerful reminder of the need to conserve the natural world, and inspire a deeper appreciation of the beauty and diversity of our planet. 6">For many travellers, nature watching is the highlight of their Antarctic adventure, creating memories that cannot be enjoyed in other places. Antarctica is a special occasion to be in touch with nature in the most natural way, with beautiful scenery and amazing experiences. Every natural wonder adventure results to the magic of studying the White Continent, from the funny activities of penguins and the awesome presence of whales to the elegant flight of seabirds, and creates memories it remain memorable long after the journey has ended, resulting in wildlife seeing one of the most extraordinary things to do in Antarctica.

">Have you any experience?
">Antarctic kayak programs are mostly suitable for beginners. Having some experience kayaking can be helpful, but it’s generally not required. Guides supply instruction on basic boat paddling techniques and the use of equipment.
">Generally, a reasonable level of fitness is sufficient to enjoy the activity. The plan is to enjoy the scenery and not to paddle long distances.

">What to Wear?
">And it’s very important to stay warm. Most expedition operators include waterproof gear, but visitors are advised to bring warm layers, gloves, hats, and thermal clothing.
">It is important to wear several layers, as it keeps the body warm and comfortable during the excursion. Sunglasses and waterproof boots are also useful, particularly on sunny days when the sun glints off the snow and ice.

">When to go kayaking in Antarctica
Antarctic cruise season runs from October through March. These months have warmer temperatures and longer hours of daylight.

">December, January, and February are particularly popular for kayaking as the weather is generally more favorable and wildlife activity is at its peak. In these months, travelers are more likely to see whales, penguins, and seals.

">Every moment on the water is special—floating past huge icebergs to watching curious penguins swim by. If you are a seasoned adventurer or a first-time kayaker, touring the waters of the Antarctic by kayak will generate memories to last a lifetime.
">To tourists, kayaking is one of the most unique, enjoyable, and memorable activities to enjoy in Antarctica.
