January is the warmest month in Antarctica and one of the busiest months to visit. Penguin chicks are beginning to hatch, wildlife viewing is at its peak, and conditions are ideal for Zodiac cruising and kayaking adventures. February is reputedly one of the better months for whale watching as the surrounding waters tend to be more active with humpback whales, minke whales and orcas.

At this time, penguin chicks are growing rapidly and large numbers of seals can be seen resting on the ice. End of the expedition season and less crowded in March. Beautiful sunsets and great photo opportunities. The whale activity is still high and the calm environment makes this a favorite month for many experienced travelers.
