Costa Rican cuisine is quite mild (especially when considering the cuisines of its neighbours) and is made up of fresh fruits (plantain, avocado, watermelon, mango, pineapple and coconuts), lots of vegetables (artichokes, sweet potatoes, chayote, yucca) rice and black beans along with various meats and tortilla.
