Cuisine

Costa Rican cuisine is quite mild (especially when considering the cuisines of its neighbours) and is made up of fresh fruits (plantain, avocado, watermelon, mango, pineapple and coconuts), lots of vegetables (artichokes, sweet potatoes, chayote, yucca), rice and black beans along with various meats and tortilla.
Some of our favourite dishes include Arroz con Pollo (rice with chicken) which is served with a Russian style salad, Gallo Pinto - which is the national dish of Costa Rica and is made up of rice and beans and is generally served for breakfast, and ceviche which is made up of a mix of raw fish, seafood (everything from octopus and shrimp to dorado and dolphin can be used) and seasonings such as garlic and chillies.
