The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, is an archipelago country in Southeast Asia, in the western Pacific Ocean. On the west it is bordered by the South China Sea, on the east by the Philippine Sea, and on the south by the Celebes Sea. The Philippines has maritime borders with Taiwan, Japan, Palau, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and China. The country's capital is Manila, while its most populous city is Quezon City. Both are within Metro Manila.
